Summary of Machupicchu by Car 2 Day tour

Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes (A and C).
To do the Machu Picchu by car 2-day tour. At 6:30am, leave the Cusco city and take a 6-hour bus trip to the Hydroelectric pawer station, and then walk for 2.5 hours to Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes).
• Overnight in Machu Picchu village.

Day 2: Visit to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco (B).
In the early hours of the morning, visit the Machu Picchu Inca city. At 10:00am, start the hike back to the hydroelectric power station. At 14:30 hours, start the bus trip to Cusco. Arrival in Cusco at approximately 20:30 – 21:00 hours.

Machu Picchu by Car 2 Day Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: Cusco - Hydroelectric - Machu Picchu Town (Aguas Calientes)
To start this beautiful Machu Picchu by Bus 2 day tour, our staff will pick you up at your hotel at 6:30 am. Then embark on an unforgettable journey through breathtaking Andean landscapes and the Amazon jungle. Passing the Ollantaytambo picturesque town, begin a beautiful zigzag ascent to the highest point of the journey, Abra Malaga (4,316m/13,832ft). From here, you will have enchanting panoramic views of the Veronica snow-capped mountain and the Amazon jungle and begin to descend towards the Santa Maria village located in the small part of the Amazon rainforest.

From the Santa Mariaville, you will begin your journey upriver to the Santa Teresa town, where you will enjoy a nutritious lunch prepared with local ingredients. Then, you will continue your trip to the hydroelectric plant, from where you will begin the 2.5-hour hike to Machu Picchu town (Aguas Calientes).

You will arrive at the Machu Picchu village main square at 17:30 to 18:00 hours, and also here the Cusco Expedition by Machupicchu E.I.R.L staff will be waiting to take you to the hostel and restaurant for your dinner.

After dinner, at the same restaurant, your tour guide will give you a short briefing for the next day’s visit.

DAY 2:Visit to the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary - Return to Cusco
To get to the Machupicchu Inca city you have 2 options. You can go up by bus or walking.

If you want to go up by bus, the first bus leaves at 5:30am. You must queue 30 minutes before and if you want to walk up, you must start at 4:30am. It will take you 1.5-hour hike to get to the Machupicchu main gate.

It is advisable to go up very early to appreciate the sunrise from the Inca citadel and be the first to arrive. Then you will have 2 hours of guided tour, at the end of your tour with the tour guide, you will have to go down immediately and start the return walk to the hydroelectric power station.

The bus from the hydroelectric power station will leave to Cusco at 2:30pm. Arriving at the Cusco Regocijos square, approximately at 20:30 – 21:00 hours.

Note. If you want to climb to Huaynapicchu mountain or Machupicchu Mountain. You are obliged to return by train. Unless you spend 2 nights in Aguas Calientes Town.

Recomendations:

To make the Machu Picchu by car 2 day tour, we recommend the following:
Book the Machu Picchu by bus 2 Day tour two or three months in advance, so you can ensure your entrance to Machu Picchu in the early morning hours and tour as indicated in the itinerary.
Make sure you are in Cusco the day before the tour.
To pick you up from your hotel, book your hotel near the Cusco city center and send us the location and name, otherwise the meeting point will be the fountain in Cusco’s main square at 6:00am.
Before and upon arrival in Cusco, take pills for altitude sickness (soroche). In your hotel in Cusco also drink coca leaves infusion, it will help you to acclimatize better.
In Cusco, in the early morning and at night, wear warm clothes.
Leave your heavy suitcase at your hotel in Cusco. Carry only a small backpack.
Be in good physical condition and health for the 10 km/6.2 hike.
