You will pass through the KM 104 checkpoint, from where you will begin the approximately 3.5-hour hike to Wiñayhuayna. As you ascend you will be able to take photos of the beautiful landscapes, including views of the sacred Wilkanota River and Challabamba. At the Wiñaywayna archaeological site your guide will explain the function of the site, and once you have enjoyed a delicious box lunch you will continue along the classic Inca Trail to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).

From this spot you will be able to enjoy the beautiful and unforgettable views of the Machu Picchu Citadel, after which you will descend along the trail for approximately one hour to Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunset. From Machu Picchu you will take a bus for 30 minutes to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will be taken to your hotel. You will end the day in the evening with a delicious dinner with your guide.
