Itinerary  Lares Trek 04 Days

DAY 01: CUSCO – CALCA – LARES – WACAHUASI.

Early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 AM, and then travel for an hour to the Sacred Valley, we will stop at the Mirador to take panoramic photos of the valley and the guide will give a brief explanation. from the place, and then we will continue until we reach the town of Calca, where we will make a brief stop and visit the local market where typical products are sold, then we will continue the trip for approximately 2 more hours until we reach the town of Lares (3,100 m / 10,170 ft ) starting point of our walk.

In this place we will introduce our team that will accompany us during the walk (Chef and muleteer), before the walk we will have the opportunity to visit the thermo-medicinal Baños de Lares and enjoy a relaxing bath, the temperature varies between 28 ° C to 34 ° C.

Thermal baths: After the thermal baths, we will continue our adventure, we will walk on flat terrain for approximately 2 hours to be able to acclimatize to the altitude, until we reach the Vilcabamba bridge, where our team awaits us with a delicious lunch, after lunch we will enjoy a short rest , and then continue the walk for 3 more until reaching the town of Wacahuasi (3,750 m / 12,303 ft), during the walk we will find children from the nearby towns with their traditional costumes that will welcome us to this valley of Lares, this will be a great opportunity to support them and share good times with them.

Wacahuasi is the place of our first day of camping, in this place the night will be colder, we recommend bringing warm clothes for the night, the temperature usually reaches minus 5 ° C, after settling in our tents and exploring this town, you will have tea time, ideal for exchanging experiences, where our guide will give a talk about the customs and traditions of this small town. Later we enjoy dinner and finally we will go to rest and be ready for the next day.

DAY 02: WACAHUASI – PASO SACSALLAULLY – MANTANAY

Very early in the morning after breakfast we will start the walk at 7:00 AM, where we will have the best views of the incredible mountains of the Andes, we will walk uphill for 3 hours, arriving at Paso Sacsallaully (4,646 m / 15,242 ft.) this point offers a rewarding view of the valleys, snow-capped mountains and Lake Aruray Cocha.

We will also appreciate native bird species including geese (Cara Cara), ducks, etc. and other typical animals of the area such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos, from Paso Aurora Cassa we descend to the two lakes known as Aruraycocha and Yuraccoha. , with the forest of Queuñas (typical tree of the Incas). On the side of one of the lakes we will have our Andean lunch with beautiful views.

During the next two hours of our hike and before our arrival in Mantanay which will be our second camp (3,850 m / 12,631 ft.) There will be a big change in the landscape, the hike is downhill through a picturesque Queuñares valley (native) with ample opportunities to take pictures of the Andean flora. arriving at the camp we will be able to rest and share the anecdotes of this long and arduous journey; To end the day we will have tea time and a delicious dinner.

DAY 03: MANTANAY – YANAHUARA – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES

This day will be the easiest we will get up a little later and calmly prepare our belongings and then have breakfast, then we will say goodbye to our team on the way (cook and muleteer), we will begin to descend for 1 hour to the town of Yanahuara (2,850 m / 9,350 ft) town that has a temperate climate is a supplier of food products to the City of Cusco, in this place we will take our transport for 15 minutes to the town of Ollantaytambo (2,850 m / 9,350 ft), a living Inca town where we will observe Inca architecture with very beautiful and narrow streets from the Inca period, we will also have the opportunity to visit its typical artisan market and learn a little about its customs and traditions of this town.

After lunch we will take the train at 12:58 PM, the trip is approximately 2 hours to the town of Aguas Calientes (2,000 m / 7,000 feet), upon reaching the town our guide will take you to your hotel where you will be informed about some Activities that can be done in the afternoon, such as visiting the thermal baths or visiting the artisan market in this town. At night we will have the last dinner and we can coordinate and have some recommendations about our visit to Machu Picchu for the next day.

DAY 04: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

Very early after breakfast (5:00 am. Approximately) we will begin the ascent for an hour of walk towards the Inka citadel of Machupicchu, in this way we can be one of the first groups within the Inka city which will allow us to enjoy the majestic sunrise, then we will have a guided visit to the most important Inca temples and palaces within the citadel of Machu Picchu, with your guide for approximately 02 hours, then you can explore the mysterious Inca city on your own, (Optional climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu cost extra $ 25 USD per person).

At the appropriate time we will descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes to board our return train to Ollantaytambo and from there by car to Cusco, our average time to arrive in Cusco will be at 8:00 PM, and then make the transfer to their respective Hotels.
